Declan Rice
Tomorrow could and possibly will be his last game at the London Stadium as a Hammer. How does Moyes play this. Does he come out alone to a standing ovation then we all know he is definitely off! Does he not play him now we are safe to safeguard him for the final then deprive him of a possible massive 60K fan send off.

Does he let Rice lead the team out and start then get substituted early on to avoid possible injury!

I personally don't know what I would do in this instance.

Re: Declan Rice
Could easily end up the best player ever to come through our club. Pisses over every single one of the so called golden generation and could surpass Bobby Moore. If I was the owner I would've upped his pay irrespective of whether or not he signed a new contract, just in the vain hope he may commit to us. We'll be lost without him, he really is that good.

Re: Declan Rice
The club won’t do anything like that- sending him out alone. Not the time or the place to reveal he’s leaving for sure. It won’t go down well and it’ll distract from the cup final preparation.

There will be no clue at all what’s happening with him apart from possibly how he acts on the lap of honour after the game. When I saw that last year I knew he wasn’t leaving that summer. Wasn’t making a big deal of it, was just going round with the rest of them. Not a man who had leaving on his mind. It’ll be fairly obvious this season if he makes a point of giving a really big goodbye or going round last but I think he’s too smart to do that. Again, it will distract from the cup final.

He may not even have made up his mind- maybe if we win, we get one more season. My feeling is that it’s necessity driving him to leave rather than actually wanting to. It’s crystal clear he fucking loves being at West Ham.

Re: Declan Rice
What I do expect though is a lot of ‘one more year’ or ‘we want you to stay’ chants through and after the game.

Re: Declan Rice
He’ll start and I’d expect play the full match. You’ll find he’ll also probably be one of the last off the pitch too, but no different than normal. I doubt even he knows if he’s 100% leaving or not. All depends on whether a club offers enough money and possibly whether we win a trophy and qualify for the Europa League.

As if I'd typed it myself.

He's not an Arnautovic - it's got nothing to do with money, he clearly loves the Club and revels in his role. He walks into any team in Europe and by all rights should be in the Champions League Final in June, not the Conference League - necessity, like you say Scorch.

We’ll have quite a few rested tomorrow including Rice

Re: Declan Rice
No way will Rice be rested if tomorrow is potentially his last ever home match for West Ham. The final is 2 and a half weeks away

Re: Declan Rice
Rice is probably the only player able to play all our matches.
Even though Moyes thinks this applies to Soucek too.

After all, this is his last match at home. A captain' won't be sent off as an incoming sub, but will be subbed at 80 mins

Not quite sure he ‘pisses all over’ the likes of Rio, Lampard, Carrick & Cole to be fair.

Potentially lifts a Euro trophy for us and next game he's in a Arsenal or CFC shirt, now that fucks me off. Let someone lift the trophy who wants to be here!

Re: Declan Rice
In my opinion with Ride it has absolutely nothing to do with money. He has plenty of that around him even at 23-24.
He is regularly picked for England, seeing his team mates competing for champions leagues, cups, leagues etc and surely that is something he wants to be part of on a regular basis.
His next destination will either prove or disprove that idea.
If he goes to Newcastle, he is going for money and potential medals etc if he goes to Man City then it clearly is about titles and the desire to win things. The 'success' in the conference league only probably helps to keep that desire alive and you can see how much it means to him, it could well be more because it's with West Ham and his affection to the club etc. I think he will end up leaving and going to Man City or even abroad as Real Madrid look like they will start to rebuild. The Spanish league he could thrive in and add more of the attacking element to his game. Wherever he ends up, I hope he doesn't forget West Ham and always speaks about the club, fans, staff et al fondly and he has been a good servant, a player to come through the academy and show again that we do have a program at West ham where if you are good enough, you will get your chances.
He has to be replaced though and I'm not sure if Moyes is the man to find the replacement and be trusted with the money to do so.

Let someone else lift the trophy?

Why would we he's been our best player, and our captain and clearly loves the club, if we win it he's earned it and deserves to lift it

Re: Declan Rice
If it was about money he'd have gone before now... or he would've signed the eye-watering contract he was offered and then angled for a move a year later.

I think it is about winning things but almost as importantly it's about him striving to be the best he can be. He's improved immeasurably in the past 3 years but knows that won't continue unless or until he plays with better players and at a level that continues to stretch or challenge him.

I don't think anyone should have an issue with that

Gaffer58 9:29 Sun May 21
Re: Declan Rice
He’s had a taste of winning things with England and us these last couple of years, afraid he wants more of it and I would guess he see’s that away from West Ham.

Eerie Descent 9:45 Sun May 21
Re: Declan Rice
He would be an absolute idiot to stay and play in a team that will spend 95% of the games they play with less than 35% of the ball. He's too good for that, and he'll definitely be leaving.

claret on my shirt 9:53 Sun May 21
Re: Declan Rice
Any chance of keeping him went due to Moyes shit style of football and the complete mess of a league campaign. When you thuink how shit years spurs and CFC have had there was an opportunity get in the top 4, top 6 at least and maybe keep Rice for another, another year we could build!

Seeing him in a Arsenal or CFC is going to piss me right off, kissing their badge and saying in interviews how fucking great it is at his new club and what a step up it is etc. FUCK HIM

Re: Declan Rice
Since he's "definitely off", I assume someone has met the stated minimum 120 million pound offer, right?

only1billybonds 10:12 Sun May 21
Re: Declan Rice
Dont think we'll get close to 120 million for him, maybe 90 would be nearer the mark. Be sad to see him go but thats what its going to take if he wants to show a stack of medals to his grandkids.

Hammer and Pickle 10:19 Sun May 21
Re: Declan Rice
What's that? There have been no offers meeting the required amount?

Where's Pointy when we need someone to tell us what "definitely off" means?

only1billybonds 10:24 Sun May 21
Re: Declan Rice
Is this £120 million an official figure put out by the club?

No, didnt think so.
